My Simple Skin Care Ritual

Many people have asked me which skin care products I use and how I take care of my skin, so I decided to share my simple skin care ritual.

I’m not a skin care expert, and I don’t believe there is one perfect routine that works for everyone. This is simply what has worked well for me and what I personally enjoy using.

Morning

In the morning, I wash my face with water, gently dry it with a towel, and spray it with Rose Water from Leven Rose. While my skin is still slightly moist, I apply Living Libations Maverick cream.

Sometimes, although not every day, I also apply two drops of Mad Hippie Antioxidant Facial Oil. One of the ingredients I particularly like is wild blueberry (Vaccinium angustifolium) which is one of the richest natural sources of antioxidants.

Evening

In the evening, I cleanse my face either with Herbal Face Foods Organic Face wash or Urtekram Fragrance Free Sensitive Skin Cleansing Foam.

I really enjoy the Herbal Face Foods soap, although it can be difficult to find in Europe. Another cleanser I like is Alaffia Everyday Coconut Face Cleanser.

Once my skin is clean, I gently dry it and use my Aduro LED Facial Mask – infrared setting. I follow the instructions that came with the mask, which recommend using it regularly during the initial period and then less frequently afterwards. Each session is 10 minutes, and the mask has an integrated timer, which makes it very convenient.

I use the mask on clean, dry skin. It is important not to apply any cream, oil, or other skin care product underneath the mask.

Afterwards, I apply four small sprays of Living Libations Best Skin Ever – Seabuckthorn Oil to my hand and gently massage it over my face and neck for a few seconds. Then I use a gua sha roller for a minute or two.

When I’m finished, I take a clean, wet organic cotton pad and gently remove some of the excess oil. I then spray my face again with the rose water and, while my skin is still slightly moist, apply my Maverick cream.

I rarely use an eye cream, but when I do, I usually choose one from Living Libations.

For dry hands

During winter, when my hands feel particularly dry, I like using unrefined raw shea butter. Karethic is one of the brands I enjoy.

During pregnancy

During my pregnancy, I used organic unrefined virgin coconut oil on my face and belly to keep my skin moisturised and supple.

If you are pregnant and considering using new products, it is always a good idea to check with your doctor or midwife first.

Body care

For body care, I sometimes use jojoba oil. I first became interested in it through Medical Medium, and I enjoy its simple feel on the skin.

Keeping it simple

For me, skin care should be simple, fast, and effective. But no skin care routine can compensate for poor nutrition or inadequate hydration.

As a nutritionist, I strongly believe that skin quality is closely connected to what we eat and drink. Providing the body with enough fluids, fresh fruits, and leafy greens is, in my opinion, an essential part of taking care of our skin from within.

Beautiful skin is not only about what we put on it — it is also about how we nourish and hydrate our body every day.
